uneral services for Carolyn Annette Davis will be held at Westside Cemetery (440 E. Cedar Street Taft, CA 93268) on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.
Carolyn Annette Davis was born in Clovis, New Mexico, on July 6, 1940 to Huey and Cora Harper. They moved to California and eventually to Taft where Carolyn grew up and went to high school. As a youngster Carolyn helped in her father’s furniture store. She married Roger Davis and they had three children: Roger, Mark and Julie. Carolyn worked at: Wagner’s Dime Store, Kirkpatrick Brothers Stationary and Toy Store and Sears. In 1980 the family moved to Bakersfield. Roger and Carolyn would open a restaurant on Brundage Lane named “Franks for the Memories” where her cooking abilities were on display daily. Carolyn went back to work selling furniture at RB Furniture. She loved selling furniture and over the many years sold furniture at the biggest furniture stores in Bakersfield: Levitz, Weatherby’s, Urner’s, and others.
Carol and Roger retired and after the passing of Roger she would busy herself with her grandchildren and her many friends, “the girls club”. She would later meet and marry a fine man, Tom Bowman of Oceano. While walking in Pismo beach she fell and sustained a serious head injury from which she would not recover.
Carolyn was a loving and protective Mother, Grandmother, Spouse and friend. She is survived by her husband, Tom Bowman; children, Roger and Teresa Davis , Mark and Lori Davis, Julie and Jonathan Greywacz ; grandchildren, Tira and Nathan Hodges, Monique and Anthony Mounsey, Chloe Davis and Colin Thomas; and great grandchildren, Vaughn Pumphrey and Avi Hodges. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all. For additional information, please contact Basham Funeral Care at 873-8200.
