Mustang, Hyundai collide on Highway 33

Three women were injured in a head-on collision near Maricopa Tuesday night.

Two women in a Ford Mustang escaped serious injury, but the driver of a Hyundai suffered more serious injuries, Kern County firefighters said.

Her injuries were described as moderate.

The women in the Mustang were out of their car and walking around when firefighters and paramedics arrived.

The identities of the injured were not immediately available. All three were taken by ground ambulance to Bakersfield hospitals for treatment.

The crash took place at 11:20 p.m.on Highway 33 just north of the Maricopa City limits.

It is under investigation by the Buttonwillow California Highway Patrol office.
