Taft shoots a 587 while BCHS shoots a 575

The Taft girls golf team officially kicked off their season Wednesday with a bit of success after they finished second in the Tehachapi Tournament in Stallion Springs.

“The TUHS girls golf team got off to a solid start today at Horse Thief at Stallion Springs,” said Taft coach Mike Cowan.

As a team, the Lady Wildcats shot a score of 587 while Bakersfield Christian won with a score of 575. Highland was third with a score of 619.
Individually, Raegan Sorensen shot the lowest round for Taft and was third overall with a 100.

Arizona Pilgrim was next with a 107 while Josey Burke shot a 114.

Hailee Lopez chipped in with a 129 with Sierra Pilgrim shooting a 137. Kathryn Tracy followed up with a 141.

Overall, the lowest round of the day was an 81 from a Highland player while the next lowest score was a 89.

“Our continued focus is short game improvement where we will be able to shave strokes quickly as we learn to get the ball up and down from near the green,” said Cowan.

“We’re very strong off the tee from top to bottom in our lineup as our team is comprised of strong multi sport athletes who aren’t afraid to swing the club and let it fly.”

Taft returns to action Monday when they compete in the Golden Valley Tournament at Buena Vista Golf Course. No time has been set yet.
