Taft went up against South and Tehachapi

Other than practice, it was the only chance for the Taft High football teams to work on their skills against another opponent Friday evening when they went up against South and Tehachapi in Tehachapi.

The junior varsity and freshmen teams played at the same time with the freshmen competing on the north side of the Tehachapi High field while the junior varsity competed on the south side. All totaled, the Wildcat freshmen ran 42 plays.

Following the junior varsity and freshmen teams, it was the varsity's turn. The teams started out  by taking turns with the point after tries. They followed with punting before competing in a scrimmage with the three teams rotating between offense, defense and taking a break.

The junior varsity and varsity football teams kick off their season this Friday at home against Golden Valley at 5 and 7:30 p.m. The freshmen start a day earlier when they host Golden Valley at 5 p.m.
