Third person cited for being under the influence
Kern County Sheriff's deputies from the Taft Substation performed a probation search at 701 Buchanan Street, apartment # C Wednesday and arrested two people and cited a third for drug offenses.
Upon their arrival just before noon, Sgt. Marc Haiungs said, deputies detained several subjects in the apartment. A records check revealed that 53-year old Taft resident Debra Montez, 53, and Gina Hernandez, 36, both had active felony warrants. Deputies determined that Luis Gomez, 35, was under the influence of a controlled substance, Haiungs said.
During a search of the residence deputies located 1.8 grams of suspected heroin, a usable amount of suspected methamphetamine, suspected Clonazepam, and several hypodermic syringes.
Deputies arrested Montez, Hernandez, and Gomez. Gomez was issued a notice to appear for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Hernandez was transported and booked into the Central Receiving Facility Jail for her felony warrant. Montez was transported and booked into the central receiving facility Jail for her felony warrant and for the following new charges: Possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possess narcotic controlled substance (heroin & Clonazepam), maintaining a place to sell/furnish narcotic controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing a peace officer, and destruction or concealment of evidence.
