Late comeback attempt falls short

When the Taft and Golden Valley football teams meet, drama and heartbreak usually follow. That was the case in Taft Friday night after the Wildcats late game comeback came up short in a 24-21 loss to the Bulldogs.
The Wildcats' long night started on the first play of the game when Golden Valley returned a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Taft bounced back at the 3:40 mark of the first quarter when Tevin Howell ran three yards for a touchdown. The Wildcats were unable to even the score after the two point conversion was no good.
The Wildcats took their first lead of the game with 5:38 to go when Howell completed a pass to Cameron Ginn and the Wildcats completed the two point conversion.
Golden Valley responded at the 4:39 marrk with an 18-yard pass. However, they could not tie the score.
The Bulldogs took the lead for good at the 6:56 mark with a 41 yard touchdown run and a two point conversion. After Golden Valley tacked on a field goal, Taft had a chance to bounce back with a 40-yard touchdown pass. Taft recovered the onside kick but were unable to take advantage.
