She was formerly president of Joliet College and San Bernadino Valley College
The West Kern Community College District announced the selection of Dr. Debra Daniels as Superintendent/President of West Kern Community College District/Taft College. Daniels was chosen by the WKCCD Board of Trustees after an extensive presidential search process which included a campus and community forum held May 25, followed by interviews by the Board on May 26th.
Daniels was selected from a pool of four candidate finalists.
She most recently served as President at Joliet Junior College in Joliet, Illinois, and prior to that at San Bernardino Valley College in San Bernardino, California. Under her leadership, Daniels led both campuses in strategic planning processes, successful accreditations, and the design of governance models for campus-wide decision making.
Through efforts in both communities, she led the development and implementation of programs to increase high school graduation and college attendance rates which focused on programs for the economically disadvantaged, as well as industry- based collaborative programs.
Daniels earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health Education and went on to complete her Master of Education and Doctorate in Education degrees with specialization in Community College Leadership in Assessment at the University of Illinois.
Following Board approval of her contract, it is expected that Dr. Daniels will begin serving in her new
capacity at Taft College on July 18.
