Team will open up play Thursday against Independence
Now that the regular season is over, the Taft varsity girls tennis team is turning their focus to the playoffs after getting the No.3 seed in the CIF-Central Section playoffs Monday.
Originally, the Lady Wildcats were supposed to get a bye in the first round but last year's Division III champion Independence got a reprieve after missing the entry deadline. Instead of getting a No.4 seed, Independence got the No.14 seed.
According to Taft coach, Jim Carnal, Taft appealed.
The winner of the match will then face the winner of the No.6 Immanuel-Madera match next Wednesday.
Thursday's match will begin at 4 p.m.
