College of the Sequoias wins by 56

The Taft College women's basketball team's long season continued at the Al Baldock Center in Taft Saturday afternoon when College of the Sequoias cruised to a 95-39 victory over the Cougars.

With the loss, Taft falls to 1-10 overall and 0-2 in the Central Valley Conference while College of the Sequoias improves to 14-3 overall and 1-0 in the Central Valley Conference.

College of the Sequoias had the momentum from the opening quarter when they erupted for 23 points before adding 25 in the second quarter. Meanwhile, Taft College was held to single digits, scoring seven in the first quarter and six in the second quarter.

Taft College's offense picked up the pace in the third quarter with 17 points but College of the Sequoias countered with 20. College of the Sequoias sealed the victory in the fourth quarter with 27 points while the Cougars were held to nine.

Brittany Romo led Taft College in scoring with 11 while Motique Bismillah followed with 10. Sierra Mora and Brittany Santos each had 6. Mora led the Cougars in rebounding with 10 while Bismillah had 7.

Santoy led Taft College in assists with 4.

Taft College returns to the road Wednesday when they travel up to Fresno City College. The game begins at 7 p.m.
