Trees down, power outages reported

Winds are gusting to more than 60 miles per hour in the Taft area, downing trees, blowing trash dumpsters and other unsecured items through the streets and triggering power outages.

More than 500 people were without power in the area, mostly in South Taft and Taft Heights but also in other scattered ares of the Westside.

In Ford City, a tree blew a tree down on the rear of a house at Cedar and Taylor.

A large tree fell across Wood street near Rose just before 7 p.m. as the winds gusted to near 50 miles per hour.

By 8 a.m., gusts were over 50 p.m. at about 8:50 a.m. a gust of 63 miles per was reported.
