August 28, 1971 - January 31, 2017
Tige Shannon James Bilyeu passed peacefully surrounded by loving family on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in Bakersfield, CA. Tige was only 45 years young. During his short life he struggled with medical issues for many years, one of those being kidney failure, which ultimately caused his passing.
There will be no public viewing, however a memorial service will be held on February 9, 2017 at 1:00 pm in Taft, CA. at the Erickson and Brown Funeral Home for friends and family who would like to attend, the address is 501 Lucard Street.
Tige was born in Taft on August 28, 1971 to Art and Deline Bilyeu. He attended and graduated from Shafter High School. After High School, he later moved to Missouri for some time where he worked and made several friends. While back East, Tige worked on Towers with his cousin Royce , he worked as a chef at the Aztar Casino, worked building and welding barges for Trinity, and also worked at Buckaroos for Miss Pat and Leroy whom he talked about often, as a bartender. Later he moved back to Buttonwillow where he could be closer to family, especially his granddaughter, Jessi.
Tige was a loving son, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, most importantly, the best PawPaw to his granddaughter, Jessi. He was not hard to become friends with and always left those he met with a smile. Although not everyone understood his dry humor, he never meant to be disrespectful or harsh to anyone. He fought a long, hard battle to keep his health well enough to spend quality time with those he loved. His most favorite role was being a PawPaw and making sure that Jessi had everything her heart desired, most of those made by his own two hands. He loved to brag on his daughter and granddaughter about how beautiful they are; he was very proud of them! Our favorite memory will be that he always said, “Love you more!” when someone said I love you.
Tige is survived by his parents, Art and Deline Bilyeu, a grandmother, Opal Johnson, his loving daughter, Angelica Vannessa and son-in-law, Eddie Martinez, his beautiful granddaughter, Jessica, two sisters, Sandra (Bilyeu) Walrath, and her husband, Darren, Kimber Bilyeu, and one brother, Aaron Todd Bilyeu, sister-in-law, Sara and his loving nieces, Cassie, Haley, Kaylene, Shammy, and one nephew, Joshua.
The family would like to send their deep gratitude to Davita Dialysis, as well as his great friend “Scotty” in Caruthersville, MO. for loving, and taking such great care of Tige while he was away from his family. In lieu of flowers a “Go Fund Me’ has been set up by his daughter under Vannessa Bilyeu where you may contribute any donations for his interment.
