Taft sees early lead evaporate but battles down the stretch to pull out 50-45 win
The varsity Lady Cats faced off against the Cesar Chavez Titans Friday night in a thrilling and physical game.
The Wildcats jumped out a big early lead only to see that disappear by halftime but came back and won 50-45.
After the opening tip off Taft came out with the gas pedal pushed down, flying up and down the court on both ends. Unlike their last few games, the Lady Cats were pressing further up the court on defense and it proved to be very effective. Kennedy Quick struck first for the Cats to open up a 20-7 first quarter lead. The second quarter proved to be a little different for the Lady Cats as they struggled to find the bottom of the net only scoring 7 points while the Titans found their stride and scored 18 points. It was a very physical game from both teams with the Lady Cats going to the charity stripe 22 times.
Jasmine Miles ended the night as the leading scorer with 13 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 6 steals and 1 block. Haley Pulido led in rebounds with 9, and had 10 points and 4 steals. Kennedy Quick ended her night with 8 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block.
