CHP says victim will be arrested when he is released from hospital

A Taft man was injured in a single vehicle accident on Golf Course Road Tuesday night and will be facing drunk driving charges, a California Highway Patrol said.

Details on the incident are incomplete, but CHP officer Adam Taylor said the driver, Audel Hernandez Perez was driving on Golf Course Road near the entrance to Buena Vista Golf Course about 10:30 p.m. when he lost control of his 2009 Toyota Corolla and it overturned.

According to a Kern County Fire Department report from the scene, the victim was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated.

He suffered moderate injuries, according to the CHP and the KCFD.

Perez was transported by ambulance to Kern Medical Center.

The investigating officer determined that Perez was driving under the influence.

"He was arrested for DUI.  Mr. Perez is currently admitted to KMC but will be booked into the Kern County Jail on the DUI charge upon his release," Taylor said Wednesday morning.
