The Etna High varsity girls basketball team earned a 59-54 upset of Fall River at home Tuesday night in Shasta Cascade League action. The Lions trailed the Bulldogs 19-10 at the end of the first quarter and 36-19 at the half. At the end of the third quarter, Fall River led  49-36. In the fourth quarter, Etna outscored Fall River 23-5 to come away with the five-point victory. Etna improved to 5-3 in the SCL and 14-7 overall. Fall River fell to 17-5 overall and 6-3 in the SCL. Junior Bre Buker played lights out in the win for Etna High and finished with 30 points, including two three-pointers. She also finished with four steals and three rebounds Cassidy Gilmore had 10 points, including two 3-pointers for EHS. She also finished with five rebounds and two steals. Jessica Dean finished with 10 points and five rebounds for the Lions. Caitlin Bennett finished with eight rebounds, four points, three assists, three steals and two blocks for the Lion girls. In the junior varsity contest, the Etna JV girls won by the score of 65-46 to improve to 20-1 overall and 8-0 in the SCL, Maddy Jones finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Lions. Cailey Rizzardo had 15 points and three rebounds for EHS. Halliday Hubbard finished with 11 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals for Etna. Cleo Smith came away with 10 points and six rebounds for the Lions JV girls. In the varsity boys game, Etna lost to Fall River by the score of 81-41. Tonight, all four Etna high teams are at fellow SCL and Siskiyou County squad Weed.
