The 15th annual search for the 'Grande Pomodoro' or the 'Great Tomato' has officially begun. Clues will be published daily and updates will appear here.
FARMINGTON — The search is on for the “Grande Pomodoro,” or “Great Tomato.”
Whoever finds the replica of a tomato will win $1,000 from Farmington’s Kitchen Cooked Chips as part of the celebration of Farmington’s Italian Fest celebration, to be held Saturday.
Clue No. 1: Monday, Aug. 25
Boun giorno, amici! It’s good to have you back!
I have hidden again, for the fifteenth time —
It’s the twentieth year of our Fest!
He who knows the rules and follows the clues
will emerge as simply the best.
The rules are easy: public property only,
no messing with others’ stuff,
no tools needed nor disassembly required.
See, those weren’t that tough!
Clue No. 2: Tuesday, Aug. 26
If you find me, you win — it’s as simple as that —
A check from Kitchen Cooked Chips
for a mille, no, not millione —
In cash — it always fits!
You must look high and low and underneath
In some dark and mysterious place
And keep in mind I’ve changed this year —
I have a smaller face.

Clue No. 3: Wednesday, Aug. 27
La pietra miliare you must find —
of this you are assured.
In fact, not one, but two you need
So you can find the third.
First know one and then the other —
Then you’ll have your bearings.
I’m waiting for you — straight and tall —
You needn’t be so daring.

The “Grande Pomodoro” will be found on public property in Farmington or Farmington Township Park. It will not be on private property. No property will need to be destroyed to locate it and it will not be hidden in a location that would require taking extraordinary physical risk. This year will be the 20th Italian Fest and the 15th year the “Grande Pomodoro” has been hidden.
This contest is brought to you by the Farmington Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Farmington Kitchen Cooked Chips.
