Tenth Avenue North -- the Dove Award-winning progressive pop band that will headline the Oildorado Days Kickoff Concert -- will launch its 22-state "The Light Meets the Dark" fall tour on Sept. 11.
The show lineup for the Oct. 15 concert at Martin Memorial Stadium on the Taft High School campus features special guests Addison Road and acclaimed singer-songwriter Matt Maher.
Tickets for the concert are available at the Oildorado store at Fifth and Main streets and at Jesus Shack in Bakersfield.
The ambitious tour will visit more than 35 markets starting in Jacksonville, Fla. and closing Nov. 6 at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.
Tenth Avenue North's sophomore album, "The Light Meets the Dark," debuted last May at No. 1 on the Nielsen Christian SoundScan chart and No. 15 on the Billboard Top 200 with first-week scans of 21,583.
It hit No. 1 on the Christian Album chart at both iTunes and AmazonMP3 and reached the Top 5 on the iTunes overall chart.
The band's current single, "Healing Begins," recently climbed into the Top 5 on the AC Monitored Chart, reflecting more than 45 million in cumulative spins since its March 5 add date.
Tenth Avenue North is the reigning GMA Dove Awards New Artist of the Year, and was the best-selling and most-played new Christian artist in 2008 when the band scored three No. 1 songs and saw its national debut "Over and Underneath" eclipse the 100,000 unit sales mark in less than seven months.
The band is composed of Mike Donehey (lead vocals/acoustic guitar), drummer Jason Jamison and Jeff Owen (electric guitar, background vocals).
Addison Road, like Tenth Avenue North, debuted two years ago and was nominated for Best New Artist.
In June, the band released its sophomore album, "Stories," featuring songs with memorable hooks and driving beats. It was produced by Grammy-nominated Chris Stevens.
Matt Maher is a singer/sonwriter/recording artist/worship leader who last spring received six Dove Award nominations, including Song of the Year and Worship Song of the Year.
He has had songs recorded by such artists as Chris Tomlin, Bethany Dillon, Brenton Brown and Phillips, Craig & Dean.
Tickets are $25 for stadium field seats, $15 in the grandstand and $10 for children 9 and under. Seats for children on the stadium floor are $25.
