Police say Toyota runs into line of stopped cars

Two people were injured in a four-vehicle crash at the intersection of Kern and Tenth streets Saturday afternoon.

The crash took place just before 2 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Kern on the east side of the intersection.

Taft Police Sgt. Ray Buford said several cars were stopped in the slow lane at the intersection when a Toyota Camry came up and struck the rear of a Chevrolet S-10 pickup, pushing it into the rear of a Chevrolet Impala which in turn struck a fourth vehicle.

The driver of the Camry, an adult male, and a female passenger in the pickup were both injured and transported by Hall Ambulance.
Buford said an investigation is underway to determine if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
