Building sat behind house that burned in late April. One firefighter suffers minor injury
A garage behind a South Taft home that was gutted by fire a month ago was itself burned Saturday morning.
Firefighters found the 400-square foot detached garage on the 1000 block of Stevens engulfed in flames when they arrived about 8 a.m. Saturday, the Kern County Fire Department reported.
The the fire was starting to spread to the exterior on an occupied home next door but it was quickly knocked down.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury and was was treated at the scene.
The cause is under investigation.
Just over a month ago -- on April 26 -- firefighters responded to the same address when flames caused major damage to the house at the front of the same property.
Neighbors told firefighters that the house was vacant but was used by squatters.
Four KCFD engines, a battalion chief, safety officer and arson investigator were assigned to the incident.
