Suspect arrested by Rural Crimes detectives

A Taft man has been charged with grand theft for allegedly trying to steal a chemical trailer from a farming company east of Taft.

Joseph Geiger, 47, was arrested by Kern County Sheriff's Rural Crimes detectives after they were called to a field near Millux and Hill roads by a farmer who saw an unfamiliar person driving a truck pulling the trailer.

The detectives determined that Geiger was not an employee of the farming company and the trailer, valued at approximately $2,000, was stolen, according to a news release.

Geiger was arrested for possession of the stolen trailer and booked into Taft Jail.
