Thieives also ransack office, steal truck

Thieves have been targeting the oilfields again and they're going after a familiar target -- copper wire.

The Kern County Sheriff's Rural Crimes Investigations Unit is investing several thefts in the West Side oilfields.

Here's the latest report •Between 10 p.m. June 7 and 5 a.m. on June 6, someone stole four feet of 1-1/4” copper wire from an oil lease located in the 25000 block of Highway 33, after cutting through the perimeter fence. •On June 9, investigators received a report that someone cut copper wire from various pieces of oilfield equipment located at an oil lease near Highway 33, causing over $15,000 in damages. Contact Brunsell if you have any information. Refer to case #2017-01064061.

•Between 9 p.m. on June 11 and and 5 a.m. on June 13, unknown suspects forcibly entered an office trailer belonging to an oil service company, located in the 20000 block of Highway 33, ransacked the office and stole several items. If anyone has any information regarding this investigation, contact Brunsell. Refer to case #2017- 01065563.

•Sometime between 4 p.m. June 12 and 6 a.m. on June 13, suspects stole approximately 50 small citrus trees from an orchard located near Highway 166, west of Old River Road. •Between 3:30 p.m. on June 11 and 6 a.m. June 13, someone vandalized an oil company’s white crane truck, possibly in an attempt to steal it, while the truck was parked in the 4000 block of Midway Road, causing over $1200 in damages. •Between 3:30 p.m. on June 12 and 6 a.m. on June 13, unknown suspects stole an oil company’s white 2008 Chevrolet C4500 crane truck from the 4000 block of Midway Road. The truck is described as being a two door with a crane and a green Champion air compressor. The vehicle bears California license #8M30143 and VIN #1GBE4C1G28F400842.
