Victim and suspect argued over who was the better worker, KCSO says
An early morning argument led to a stabbing in Ford City that sent one man to the hospital and another to jail, the Kern County Sheriff's office reported.
Two men in an apartment on the 300 block of Adams got into the dispute over who was a better worker about 4:30 a.m. on July 9, said Sgt. Kevin George.
At some point during the argument, the suspect, identified as Celedonio Velasco, 48, used a folding pocket knife to stab the victim, a 40-year-old man in the armpit.
The victim was airlifted to Kern Medical for treatment.
Velasco was arrested after a struggle with deputies and charged with assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest, George said.
Velasco is also charged with battery with serious injury, according to Kern County Superior Court and jail records.
He is being held on $50,000 bail.
