Structures briefly threatened

A brush fire broke out just west of New Cuyama Saturday night and briefly threatened structures in the rural Santa Barbara County Community, including the Burger Barn.

The fire was reported at 9:24 p.m. in the 5400 block of Highway 166.

Arriving firefighters found fire spreading rapidly towards town in grass and light brush, said Santa Barbara County Fire Department spokesman Dave Zaniboni.

Firefighters from Santa Barbara County and the U.S. Forest Services had halted the spread at 30 acres by 10:50 p.m.

There were no injuries or damage, Zaniboni said and the cause is still under investigation.
