Project will cover from Arroyo to South Tenth

Construction is scheduled to start in the fall on a long-awaited road project that will put a new, smoother surface on the length of A Street.
Kern County Supervisor David Couch's office said last week that the project is scheduled to start in
October and wrap up in December.
Bids for the project were received last week.
The project was originally scheduled to be done over the summer.
No reason for the delay was given.
It is one of the largest surface street projects in several years, comparable in scope to the project done several years to resurface Harrison Street from Highway 119 south to Ash Street.
When completed, a new road surface will cover A from Arroyo Drive on the west to South Tenth on the east.
A small part of the project involves a section of A Street inside the city limits.
The A Street Project is funded through Kern COG.
The source is an $800,000  Regional Surface Transportation Program (RSTP) award.
