Man was trapped in truck that rolled off highway
A Shell Beach man and his teenage son were injured when their truck plunged off Highway 166 in San Luis Obispo County, ejecting the boy as it overturned near Tepusquet Road Wednesday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The teen, aged 16, from Santa Maria, was thrown out of the passenger door as the vehicle rolled.
He was able to climb back to the road to flag down passers-by.
He was not identified.
The man, identified only as Mr. Tackett, 42, was trapped in the wreckage before being extricated with the Jaws of Life by firefighters.
The teen suffered moderate injuries and was flown from the scene by a CHP helicopter.
Tackett suffered major injuries, including a broken ankle and cuts and was taken to Marian Medical Center in Santa Maria.
