Flash flood watch issued for area mountains
Storms started hitting the Kern County deserts Saturday afternoon, triggering a flash flood warning in Inyokern and those storms are expected to move into the Southern San Joaquin Valley by Sunday.
That means a good chance of showers and storms in Taft over the next couple of days.
There's a 40 percent chance of showers and storms Sunday increasing to a 50 percent chance Sunday night.
The rain chances continue right into Monday.
Rain chances taper off to just 20 percent Monday night and the weather dries out after that.
Some of the storms could be heavy Sunday night
That has prompted flash flood watch that covers the Kern County Mountains, including the San Emigdio range South of Maricopa to the Kern-Santa Barbara County line, that goes into effect Sunday at 8 a.m. and continues until Monday at 5 a.m.
