Motorcycle officer in critical condition after crash on Highway 58

A veteran Oxnard Police officer was critically injured Tuesday afternoon when his motorcycle crashed near McKittrick.

The officer, James Langford, was on a training ride with other Oxnard officers when the crash occurred about 3:30 p.m. on Highway 58 about 4-1/2 miles west of Reward Road.

It was a solo motorcycle accident, Oxnard Police Commander Denise Shadinger said.

Langford suffered major head trauma, according to reports from the scene.
He was airlifted to Kern Medical by Medivac 1 and was in critical condition late Tuesday night, Shadinger said.

The officer was a 12-year veteran with Oxnard PD and joined the traffic division in 2016, Shadinger said.
The accident is under investigation by the Buttonwillow California Highway Patrol office.
