Man wanted for auto theft, other charges found hiding in yard
Taft Police and Kern County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man wanted on warrants after a search through a South Taft neighborhood Monday at midday.
The suspect, identified by Sheriff's Sgt. Kevin George, was identified as Juan Carlos Mota.
Mota is wanted on two misdemeanor warrants and a felony warrant for auto theft, he said.
Officers were actually searching for another warrant suspect in the area when one spotted Mota, who ran from officers.
He was last seen in the east alley of the 300 block of Naylor Avenue.
Officers set up a perimeter around the entire block and started a search.
After a few minutes, Mota was arrested in the rear yard of a house on the east side of the street just north of Wood.
