The Yreka Chamber of Commerce is looking for some board members – and Chamber Executive Director Karl Greiner said that he is looking for “people who want to make Yreka great.”

Greiner told the Siskiyou Daily News on Thursday that the Chamber board typically has at least nine members, but it is now down to six. The problem, he said, is that six are needed in order to make board decisions, and without extra members on the board, it can be difficult to conduct business if anyone is unable to make it to a meeting.

The meetings are held once each month, and usually last about an hour, he said. The Chamber board members are tasked with deciding how to promote local businesses, and are called upon occasionally to volunteer at Chamber events.

Anyone interested in joining the board can find a nomination form at goo.gl/zSzgyW, and send it in with a letter of interest or resumé.

Greiner said that anyone can become a board member, especially if they have the drive he is looking for – a desire to see the community improve.

“We need people who care about the future of Yreka,” he said.
