At least six businesses entered on 400 block of Center Street
Taft Police are investigating break-ins to at least six businesses on the 400 block of Center Street.
Officers were alerted to an alarm in a business on the north side of the street near Fourth Street as they investigated they found evidence of entry into multiple business on both sides of the Street, Chief of Police Ed Whiting said.
The break-ins occurred sometime overnight Thursday into Friday morning, he said.
At least one large plate glass window in the front of Emy's Variety Store was shattered, littering the sidewalk with shards of glass.
Evidence of entry was also found at Bangs &Tangles, officers said.
Across the street, several more business were hit, including Mark's Nu Uzed & Refurbished, where a glass window plate was removed.
Whiting said officers would be gathering and processing physical evidence as well from the crime scenes.
Police and business owners were still adding up the damage and determining the loss Friday morning.
