Double-wide on east end of Chaparral destroyed

Fire destroyed a vacant structure in Dustin Acres Thursday afternoon.

The double wide mobile home on the very east end of Chaparral was heavily involved in fire when the first Kern County firefighters from Taft arrived just after 4 p.m.

The 1,500 square foot structure had long been abandoned, one Dustin Acres resident said, and firefighters said there were no utilities hooked up to it.

Four engines and a ladder truck responded to the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

There were no injuries.
