No injuries reported. Suspect vehicle seen fleeing area

Kern County Sheriff's deputies are investing a shooting in South Taft early Friday morning.

No injuries were reported.

Deputies received a report of shots fired at a house in the area of Lierly and Buena Vista about 7:45 a.m. and a suspect vehicle was seen fleeing the area.

"We definitely have a shots fired," Sheriff's Sgt. Kevin George said. "We're still checking to see if it struck any residences in the area."

The suspect vehicle was a white pickup, George said.

About 45 minutes after the shooting, a pickup matching that description was spotted on Cedar Street.

Numerous deputies and Taft Police officers responded to the area and the truck was stopped in front of West Side District Cemetery.

The occupants were taken out at gunpoint, but it was determined this pickup was not the suspect and the people were released.

 The investigation is ongoing.
