Two-month old and father were at Shell Station

An infant who had been the subject of an Amber Alert since he was kidnapped Friday in Ft. Tejon on Friday was found safe on Highway 119 north of Taft on Saturday.

The child, two-month-old Jefferson Gomes, was found with his father and alleged kidnapper, Jeffrey Michael Gomes, 42.

The pair was located just before noon at the Shell gas station at Highway 119 and Highway 43, about 15 miles from Taft.

The child was unharmed.

The father was taken into custody by Kern County Sheriff's deputies and California Highway Patrol officers.

The pair had been the subject of an Amber Alert issued Friday afternoon after Jeffrey Gomes drove off with the infant after an altercation with his mother, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
The Amber Alert covered  Los Angeles, Kern, Kings, Tulare and Fresno counties.
