RCIU investigating theft on lease near Taft

Oilfield thieves caused a lot of damage to steal copper wire in the Taft area recently.
that is one of two cases the Kern County Sheriff's Rural Crimes Investigations Unit is investigating and asking the public to help find the culprits.
Sometime between Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. and Oct. 23 at 10 a.m., unknown suspects severely damaged two electrical panels on two oil wells, and removed several portions of copper wire, causing approximately $30,000 in damages to an oil lease located near Highway 119 and Airport Road. Between 3 p.m. on Oct. 25 and  7a.m. on Oct. 26, unknown suspects stole a red Multiquip generator, bearing serial #33516, from a mobile crane parked at an oil site located off Highway 33. Contact Brunsell with any information regarding this investigation. Refer to case #2017-01141993.
