Graveside services will be held in Taft’s West Side District Cemetery on Tuesday November 28, at 11 a.m. for Taft native, Harold Lester Barnes (Les). Les was born in Taft on July 28, 1937 and passed away in Cottonwood, Idaho on November 10. He was reared and educated in Taft. Les played guard for Taft’s 1956 Valley Basketball Championship Team where he made several of the final points that edged Taft past Edison in a heated showdown of will and determination. Following high school, Les owned several local businesses including Valley Tire Shop, Barnes Car Dealership and Barnes Auto Parts. Upon retiring, Les moved to Kooskia, Idaho where he and his loving wife, Patricia Barnes spent many memorable days together. Les is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Vera Barnes and siblings Ruth Janetzky, Roy Barnes, Mary Ann Taylor and Dorothy Brownlee. Les is survived by his brother Dr. Richard Barnes (Dick), his children Lyle Barnes, Pamela Buck, Jerry Williams, Julie Manley, 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
