Structure on South Street burns late Saturday night
Fire damaged another vacant building in South Taft late Saturday night.
The blaze was reported just after 11 p.m. in a duplex in the 300 block of South Street, the Kern County Fire Department reported.
Arriving firefighters found the 1,000 square foot structure about 25 percent involved in flames when they arrived.
The fire was contained by15 firefighters manning a ladder truck and three engines, but not before it destroyed about half of the structure.
Damage was estimated at $30,000 with about $30,000 saved.
The fire is under investigation by arson investigators.
No injuries were reported.
