More than 1,600 customers have no electricity

Power is out to a large section of Taft and the West Side.

PG& reports 1,654 customers lost their power at 9:44 a.m. Friday and power could be out for as long as three hours.

The outage covers Ford City, parts of Taft and wide swath to the west including Fellows and the Midway-Sunset Oilfields through the Temblors out to the Carrizo Plain National Monument.

The cause of the outage wasn't immediately known.

PG&E said it expects to restore power by 1 p.m.
