Search for a new pediatrician to serve Taft starts starts

The West Side Health Care District is recruiting another pediatrician to serve Taft after Dr. Timothy Lee, a pediatrician who had been medical director for the urgent care, is leaving.

Health Care District Executive Director Jerry Starr said Lee is moving on to pursue career goals.
Lee is both a board certified pediatrician and holds an MBA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a focus on health care administration, according to the District website.
Lee joined the District in 2015 as medical director for the West Side Family Health Care and also has a pediatric practice in the clinic.
He is nearing the end of his three-year contract with the District.
"His contributions to the District are greatly appreciated," Starr said. "He has been very, very valuable in moving us to rural health care clinic status."

Starr said bringing another pediatrician to Taft is a priority for the District.

"We would like to see a pediatrician with deep roots in our community," he said. "We have started a nationwide search for a doctor with board certification to handle pediatrics or a family practitioner who can handle pediatrics."

In addition to his duties as medical director, Lee saw pediatric patients at the clinic five days a week.

Dr. Nancy Ferrel is the new medical director for the urgent care.
