Today's forecast: Rain

Tonight's forecast: Rain

Thursday's forecast: Rain.

You get the idea. It's going to be wet for a while.

The good news; it's a much needed rain, and none of the flooding that was feared has occurred - at least not yet.

But that could change.

There's the potential for another inch of rain or more in Taft before the storm finally eases Thursday night, with more in the higher terrain, especially in the San Emigdios to the south.

So far, only minor street flooding in the usual, flood-prone areas around Taft has been reported.

A lot of people took advantage of the city's free sand and sandbags in a city lot at 550 Supply Row, and some bags have been placed at local homes and businesses.

By 9 a.m., Taft had received .41 inches since the rain started Tuesday afternoon, and .26 inches has fallen since midnight.

That brings the total for the water year (Oct. 1-Sept. 30) to 2.17, and the rainfall to date for 2018 to 1.93 inches.

After a break for much of the morning, rain is expected to return at midday, and up to an inch of rain could fall today and tonight.

The chance of rain is 100 percent.

Thursday, the rain chance is 80 percent, tapering off to 40 percent Thursday night with a 20 percent chance of showers on Friday.
