Teen went to hospital, and a man went to jail. Both face DUI charges, Taft Police say

Vehicles driven by two suspected drunk drivers collided on Gardner Field Road early Sunday morning, sending one teenager to the hospital with minor injuries and and 20-year-old to jail on felony DUI charges.
The teen was cited for misdemeanor DUI.

Taft Police Capt. Shad Swanson said Luis Diego Estudillo-Solis, 20, had pulled the wrong way into eastbound lane.

Estudillo-Solis told police he was helping a disabled motorist. An oncoming car driven by a 16-year-old boy whose name was not released approach and collided with the first vehicle in what Swanson described as a "low speed head-on collision."

The teenager suffered minor injuries and was taken to a Bakersfield hospital for treatment.

Both drivers were alone in their vehicles.

Estudillo-Solis was booked into Taft Jail on the felony DUI charge and a misdemeanor for being under 21 with a blood alcohol level of .05 or higher.
