Service in Taft out all day until it was restored overnight

The crash that knocked out power to the Dustin Acres area and cut cable television and internet service to the entire Taft area Sunday was the result of an early morning traffic accident on Highway 119 in Dustin Acres.
In a preliminary report, California Highway Patrol officers said a Bakersfield man, Roger Paulson, 63, was westbound on the highway just west of Sunridge Avenue when he allowed his Ford F250 pickup to drift off the roadway and collide with a utility pole.

No other vehicles were involved and there were no apparent injuries.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors.

The crash was reported at 1:16 a.m.
Power was knocked out in parts of Dustin Acres. Some homes got power restored by 6 a.m. but other areas had it restored in the late afternoon areas.

Cable television and internet service to Spectrum customers in Taft was out all day and into the evening before being restored early Monday.
