Motorcyclist suffers possible broken leg in collision on Kern Street

Taft Police say an apparent right of way violation led to a crash that seriously injured a motorcycle rider Thursday evening on Kern Street.

The crash remains under investigation.

Sgt. Corey Beilby said a car attempting a left turn out of the parking lot in front of Little Caeser's on the 200 block of Kern Street to go westbound on Kern and drove into the path of an eastbound motorcycle.

Both drivers tried to take evasive action, Beilby said, but the Harley Davidson collied with the front driver's side of the car, a Volkswagen Jetta.

The motorcyclist, identified only as a 30-year-old Taft man, was ejected in the impact and suffered a possible broken leg and other injuries.
He was taken by ambulance to Elk Hills Gate 2 and transferred to an air ambulance to be

flown to Kern Medical.
The 21-year-old female drive of the Jetta and a male adult in the front seat suffered no visible injuries, first responders at the scene said.
