Ceremony on May 17 will honor Sheriff's personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty

The week of May 14-18 is Peace Officer Memorial week in Kern County.

This is a time set aside to remember and honor all law enforcement personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities. During this period of observance, Kern County Sheriff's deputies will be wearing black mourning bands over their badges, and flags at Sheriff’s Office facilities will be flown at half-staff.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office will hold its annual Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony to pay homage to members of the Sheriff’s Office who have lost their lives while in service for the people of Kern County. The ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the Sheriff’s Office Memorial Monument at Sheriff’s Headquarters, 1350 Norris Road in Bakersfield.

The public is invited to join us as we honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the community members of Kern County.
