Both men face several felony counts

The two suspects accused in the kidnap, beating and robbery of a Taft man on May 17 are due in court Thursday for pretrial hearings.

Jose Dejesus Mota and Eduardo Alcantar-Lopez are both charged with burglary, assault with a deadly weapon and threatening with intent to terrorize.

In addition, Mota is charged with battery on a person and Alcantar-Lopez faces additional charges of kidnap, first degree robbery, kidnapping and obstructing or resisting arrest.

Alcantar-Lopez is now being held on $150,000 bail and Mota's bail is set at $200,000, according to the Kern County Superior Court website.
They are accused of breaking into a house on the 200 block of San Emidio Street, ransacking it and tying up a resident when he awoke.
The two men then drove the victim to the Chase Bank with one suspect holding a knife to his neck where they ordered him to go inside and withdraw money.

Instead, the victim told bank employees, who called police.
