West Side District Cemetery hosting annual observance

The community will gather on Monday at West Side District Cemetery for Taft's Traditional Memorial Day Observance on Monday.
The event starts at 10 a.m.

It is organized by the Cemetery District and Fellows American Legion Post #63 with support from Erickson & Brown Funeral Home and Lori Family Mortuary.

The program starts with an invocation by Rodney Wikoff and Sarah Lopez performing the Star Spangled Banner.

Boy Scout Troop 2 will raise the flag accompanied by musicians Martin Penaloza, Abigail Verela Padilla and Matztli Flores.

The Boy Scouts will lead the pledge of allegiance, followed by "Salute to America" by the Lincoln Junior High Band.

The traditional floral tributes will be presented by Ron Maddox, Jim Holmes, Tom Hidtman, and Larry Owens.

Gary Summers will present the POW and MIA Remembrance and the Veterans Memorial Dedication.

After the benediction, the American Legion Rifle Squad under the direction of Sgt. Larry Heptinstall will fire a 21-gun salute.
