February 27, 1927 - June 1, 2018

Mary Frances (Stowe) Hebert Jarvis was born in Springfield, MO, on February 27, 1927, to parents Elmer E. and Frances Stowe, and passed away on June 1, 2018 at the age of 91.

 Her family moved to Taft during WWII in 1942.    She graduated from Taft Union High School in 1945 and Taft Junior College in 1947 before marrying Francis J. Hebert and raising a family. During the early 1960’s she went back to college and graduated from what was then Fresno State College. She taught in the Taft City School District for 23 years before retiring in 1987.

 She was active in the following organizations during her many years in Taft: AAUW, Delta Kappa Gamma, California Teachers Association, P.T.A. (past president), Emblem Club, and the Buena Vista Women’s Golf Club. She also served as a board member of the Taft Cemetery.

  Mary spent her entire adult life in Taft, leaving just 3 years ago to live in a senior living community in Redlands, CA so she could be near family.

She is survived by her son, Rusty (Deborah) Hebert of Fayetteville, TN, her daughter, Janelle Fairhurst of Calimesa, CA, three grandchildren Jason (Tina) Hebert, Joshua (Courtney) Hebert,  and Mitchell Fairhurst, and 3 great-grandchildren. Celebration of Life will be at the Fort Saturday, July 14th, 11 am.
