Candidates have until Aug. 10 to run for one of three seats in November election

The filing period to run for Taft City Council in the November general election opens Monday.
Three seats will be contested.

Josh Bryant, Renee Hill and Randy Miller are all up for reelection.

Miller is completing his fourth four-year council term, and Bryant and Hill ― who both ran unopposed in 2014 ― are completing their first terms.

Potential candidates must be a registered voter living in the city at the time of filing and during their time in office.
The filing period will remain open until 5 p.m. on Aug. 10 unless one of the incumbents does not file by that deadline.
In that case, the deadline will be extended for non-incumbents until Aug. 12 at 5 p.m.

Campaign packets with all the information for getting on the ballot are available at the Taft city offices, 209 E. Kern Street.
