Preliminary hearing Friday for defendant Bobby Sherrell

Accused murderer Bobby Gene Sherrell is scheduled to be back in court this week for pretrial hearings.

Sherrell, 38, is charged with first degree murder in the June 13 shooting death of David Steelman.

He has pleaded not guilty.
His preliminary hearing, where a judge will decide if there is enough evidence to order him to stand trial, will be held Friday at 8:30 a.m. in Bakersfield.

A readiness hearing is scheduled for Thursday at 9 a.m.

Sherrell was arrested in Bakersfield on June 15, two days after Steelman was found shot to death in the 600 block of Crystal Street about 6 a.m.
