Devlyn Ray now scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 13

A Taft man convicted of robbery failed to appear at his sentencing hearing, but is now being held without bail after his arrest by Taft Police.

Devlyn Thailor Ray, 30, was arrested by Taft Police on a warrant Saturday evening, a day after he was scheduled to be sentenced for his no contest plea to second-degree robbery.

He had been free on $50,000 bail.

Ray was arrested by Taft police on July 8 after an incident in front of the Goodwill Store in the 400 block of Finley Drive.

Police said at the time Ray tried to take some property from a man and witnesses told them he was armed with a knife.

Ray is being held without bail in the Kern County Sheriff's central receiving facility and a new sentencing hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 13.
