Men's and women's soccer at home Friday, volleyball on the road for a while

Fall sports at Taft College get rolling this week with volleyball and both men’s and women’s soccer scheduled to christen their seasons,

Both Cougar soccer teams will kick off the season with home matches while the volleyball squad will have to be road warriors for their first nine or ten matches and won’t play in the familiar confines of the Al Baldock Cougar Sports Center until Sept. 21.

Men’s soccer, which battled all the way to the state championship last year (losing to arch rival Fresno City College),opened the season with a 2-0 win over San Bernadino Valley College.

The Cougars will cap off the week by hosting Antelope Valley College of Lancaster on Friday at 4 p.m.

Meanwhile, the women will dive into their season Wednesday by traveling to Clovis to take on Northern California power Santa Rose Junior College at noon before entertaining Allan Hancock College of Santa Maria Friday at 2 p.m. in a prelude to the men’s team clash with Antelope Valley,
