Victim told police he was sleeping when he was attacked by three men

One suspect is in custody and two others are being sought after a man was attacked while sleeping in a Taft home, Taft Police reported.

The attack took place on Sept. 6 about 11:30 p.m., according to Taft Police.

The victim told officers he was asleep in his bed in a residence on the 100 block of Lexington Avenue when three men attacked him with fists and an object, possibly a baseball bat.

The victim fought back and fled the residence, police said.

He suffered multiple injuries, including lacerations.

Police were called and when the entered the house they found it had been vandalized and burglarized.

The next day, officers arrested Lee Alan Hardy, 37, on the 400 block of Asher Avenue.

Hardy is being held in Kern County Jail on charges of burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and vandalism.

He is also being held without bail on a charge of violating post-release supervision.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday

Two other suspects, described only as adult males, are still being sought and the investigation is continuing.
